I don’t mind bottled teas, but I prefer to brew them myself if possible.

Did you read the guest post by Derek Chew on my blog? http://www.myjapanesegreentea.com/brewing-chinese-green-tea

I did, and I liked it.

Thanks!

No, I had not read it but I have now! The terms were new to me. But can boiling water really break the tea leaves? Hadn’t occurred to me. I can’t quite picture that.

I always put the leaves first, not sure if they break or not : )

Yes, it’s an interesting claim. But so many tea rituals are. I’m a passionate believer in Milk In First, even though the actual necessity passed several hundred years ago, and I don’t take milk myself.

Thanks for the share.
The article forgot to mention that “cha” comes from Cantonese, and “te” from the Fujian dialect.

I brew in a kyusu, or if drinking matcha then in the matcha bowl. The precise method of brewing depends on the type of tea, and I usually drink green tea.
I live in Colombia, but learned about tea when I lived in Japan.

It was very well written and I enjoyed it. I’ve never tried German tea before, but sounds delicious.

@jackie I hadn’t given much thought about that, since my site is fairly new. I just read an article about it http://davebuesing.com/google-analytics-spam-traffic-bots/
and it seems that it happens in spikes. I don’t have such big spikes so perhaps my bots aren’t that many 🙂
Anyway, unless I’m mistaken there really is no surefire way to get…[Read more]

This is a question for tea companies, and anyone who knows a bit about the topic:
My blog is now getting above 100 unique visitors a day. Problem is, the only way I’m monetizing it until now (advertising with affiliate links) only earns a few cents each month : (
They get clicked but apparently no one really purchases anything. I’m also limited…[Read more]

@jackie I don’t get many comments, bots or human. The way I filter bots is by using the Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin. It adds a box that one must check to prove that you’re not a bot.
I recognize spammers by the […]

@xavier Teavana didn’t respond when I asked by twitter, I guess they aren’t doing a good job with looking at their mentions there.
I don’t know about stores because I don’t live in the US, but the page on the […]

I think small cups let you appreciate a tea better, especially if it’s a high quality tea. There’s a difference when sipping small amounts, or at least that’s what I feel : )
Cup size may be based on culture, […]

I’m not familiar either with buying brewed teas from their store. The few that I’ve bought there I brewed using my own guidelines and the results were good.
I wonder, why would their teas have less taste, or […]

That one and the matcha were the teas that I usually bought from Teavana (when I occasionally visit the US). I’m not a tea sommelier but I thought it was good. I wonder what happened?
