Just finished reading Green Gold, the Empire of tea by Alan and Iris MacFarlane.
When you combine it with the thesis on fair trade and Darjeeling by Arnaud Kaba (in French), you have a rather grim vision of the work in the tea estates.
But it also contained some really interesting data and information.
Sounds like the book is a good read? It is on my list somewhere…
But I do agree working on a tea estate was/is not the kind of job most westerners would opt for.
It is a good read since it gave me a whole new point of view on tea, one from the Assam area. And as I said, data 😀
