The proof is in the scones. Made these buttermilk and chocolates ones and had them with a nice pot of tea.

1 lb of flour
2 oz cold butter diced
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch of salt
2 oz brown sugar (or white)
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
2 tablespoons milk (I used whipping cream)
Medium sweet chocolate, cut into small pieces. I baked half of the scones with no chocolate, the other half with. I didn’t use much chocolate, 1/3 of a bar. You can of course add anything you like, for example raisons, dried cranberries etc.
Pre-heat oven to 400F. Mix dry ingredients then wet. I found the original recipe a bit too sticky so I added a little more flour. I made 21 drop scones, baked them in two lots. 15 – 18 mins each.
