Frank at 52 Teas had asked me about auctions. I can set up a facility for them here and as I am planning a new front page with a lot more content on it, auctions seem like a pretty good idea. These would be handled outside of the marketplace and on Tea Trade itself.
I kind of see it as a place to sell off some really special stuff or to hold a special event – like @thedevotea‘s charity tea sale. The auctions could be a more exclusive and premium setup.
What do you think? Would you bid for tea for a special event?
I am not sure. It would depend on the auction.
I would have preferred an auction.
I will work on this then. It won’t be ready until I can get the new front page redesign done (next week maybe?) but we can visit putting that tea up as a charity auction on I get it it all ready. I still have some research to do, but it is definitely doable.
@identitea, how so? I’d like to understand your thoughts more on this. For Tea Trade, I’m seeing it as something to support things like what @thedevotea is doing – a charity sale. I see them more as a special event (more like we see them in the real world) not a mundane, everyday occurance to dig up a bargain. Every now and then people come up with a great idea, find an actually unique product or something else. Auctions may be a good way to handle that.
The other side of this is that I also own teatrade.org, which could theoretically be used to support the charity side of Tea Trade and be home to nothing but auctions sponsored by vendors with the intent of supporting charity.
